Full length classical ballet performance is integrated into the IBT curriculum as an essential element of training. IBT performs a Spring performance and the Nutcracker every December at the Colonial Theatre.


The Nutcracker

Idaho Ballet Theatre is celebrating our 21st annual performance Tchaikovsky’s beloved, The Nutcracker featuring more than 100 local children ages 3-18 dancing this classical ballet event. From the impressive staging to the beautiful costumes to the skilled dancing, audiences are in for a magical three nights!

The story of The Nutcracker is loosely based on the E.T.A. Hoffmann’s fantasy story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, about a girl who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve and wages a battle against the evil Mouse King. Read more about the Nutcracker here.


The Nutcracker Tea Party

Join us for a magical holiday event in the Land of Sweets – IBTs second annual Nutcracker Tea Party.  This is the perfect way to kick off your family’s holiday festivities!

Coppélia

This classical ballet is set in an Austrian village, where the doll maker, Dr. Coppélius creates a beautiful life-size doll named Coppélia. This sets in motion a series of events that leads the toy maker to believe his doll can come to life. These lovable characters will have you laughing throughout this charming and timeless ballet.

Join IBT for a delightful Craft Party. This event is designed for kids offering them a magical chance to interact with the world of ballet. Come and enjoy a craft workshop for you and your doll complete with goodies, a meet and greet with dancers, and a live performance just for you and your doll.
