ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Abbey Jensen Lasley began her ballet training with Idaho Ballet Theatre under the direction of Brandy K. Jensen. While dancing with IBT, Abbey performed principal roles in various productions including Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow Queen, Swanhilda, Evil Step-Sister, and Queen Tatiana. As a student, Abbey attended American Ballet Theatre’s New York City summer intensives for five consecutive summers, and from 2011 to 2013 she was awarded the American Ballet Theatre National Training Scholar award. In 2013, Abbey performed George Balanchine’s Serenade with Ballet Idaho, in Boise, ID. Abbey competed in the Youth American Grand Prix competition for multiple years and placed in the top twelve in both Classical and Contemporary categories, earning her multiple scholarship offers.

Abbey then moved to Salt Lake City, UT, to dance with Ballet West as a Trainee. She performed in Ballet West’s The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and The Little Mermaid. Abbey also toured the state of Utah with the BW for Kids program.

Abbey has been involved with with IBT since its creation and has choreographed multiple contemporary and classical works for the company in recent years. She taught for Ballet West Academy during the 2018/19 2019/20 seasons and has also been a guest teacher at various organizations including Brigham Young University-Idaho. Abbey is grateful to teach and guide the dancers of Idaho Ballet Theatre while striving to continue the legacy established by her mother, Brandy K. Jensen.
