Idaho Ballet Theatre and Academy – Raising Expectations
IBT’s mission is to train young dancers for classical ballet while building self confidence and strong character. Emphasis is on early proper formation of body alignment and technique leading to unlimited achievement.
Classical ballet technique is supported by core strength conditioning. Instruction is provided in a fun, positive environment with age appropriate rigor. Once students reach age 10 Contemporary, jazz and modern styles may be practiced to enrich the classical training. Improvisation, acting and mime are taught to enhance students expressiveness and performance versatility.
Classes are offered at all levels from pre-ballet, beginning ballet to advanced technique and pointe.
Performance is integrated into the curriculum as an essential element of training. At least two ballet productions each year provide students with motivational performance experience in the context of the classical masterworks.
Idaho Ballet Theatre performs Tchaichovsky’s The Nutcracker every December.
Top IBT students are competitive within their age groups among professional-track dancers at an international level; however many of our dancers goals are more recreational.
IBT only participates in the Youth American Grand Prix Ballet Competition. Which is an optional international competition for advanced students.
